Take it from the Top

Our maiden voyage into Blogdom may be a long one, since we have several weeks of life in Paris to get you caught up on.  So, here goes, from the beginning...

We left Houston on March 2nd for an arrival in Paris on the morning of March 3rd.  No major events on the trip over (airplane food, crying babies, uncomfortable seats) other than a two hour delay leaving Houston.  Which is no biggie except that we traveled over with our dog, Buckley, and an additional hour or two in the kennel is not his idea of a good time.  When we arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport we were so excited to finally see Buckley.  We kept saying to each other how his face would just light up with excitement when he saw us and he would go nuts... quite the opposite.  He looked at us with anger and a look of "How could you do this to me?  I trusted you people!"  The poor guy looked like a drug addict who'd been up for days.

There was no time to comfort him yet though.  We scooped up his kennel and loaded it for yet another ride, but in the car to our apartment this time.  The ride from the airport to our apartment is about an hour with morning traffic.  Paris is like any major city - the outskirts are less than impressive to the eye.  However, the closer to the center of town you get, the more aware you are of what makes Paris so fantastic.  It's beautiful!

When we arrived at our apartment our driver (you will learn more about him later) dropped the two of us, Buckley and his massive kennel, our five suitcases (one of which held my wedding gown), and two carry-on bags on the sidewalk.  We called the relocation company assisting us with our move to France and they came over with our key.  That was it.  We were home.

It didn't take Buckley long to calm down from the flight and settle in.  All it took was one belly rub and a walk around the Champs de Mars and he decided this Paris thing might be alright with him.

To be continued...
